Job description

With all of the uncertainty of the current market, and for those who are perhaps a bit of bored of sitting around the house and watching your 4th round of reality TV for the day, perhaps you’d be interested in a 4 week contract with an SME Engineering business to keep you ticking. Not only will it keep you busy, but you’ll be contributing to the efforts in fighting COVID-19.

 

This Cambridge business work on thermal imaging products which detect abnormal temperatures, which has useful application in the healthcare sector at present. As a result, the sales orders are particularly high now, and their manufacturing set up, could use a hand during this demanding time…. That’s where you step in.

 

You’ll be stepping in as an experienced Production Technician, working alongside a team of technicians on electro-mechanical assembly, as well as testing various thermal imaging related products. This will involve batch quantities and can range from cable assembly to full system and build.

 

Technical Requirements

 

As always, it’s important to make sure you’ve worked with the right tech, so have a review of their technical requirements below:

A formal Electronic Engineering qualification (Btec Elect Eng) ONC/OND or City & Guilds Radio & TV

An understanding of electro-mechanical fundamentals

Troubleshooting, fault finding and debugging skills

SMT soldering (to 0201) and PCB repair skills

Wiring and cable/harness assembly experience

Computer literate

The ability to read schematic designs  Proficient in the use of standard test equipment e.g. Oscilloscope, DVM, signal generator
