James Bokhorst

Business Manager

James began his SoCode journey in June 2019.

"I recruit for Electronic Engineers. It's a market I enjoy working in, it's relatively unsaturated in terms of other recruitment agencies. In addition, my focus is purely Cambridge which allows me to be much more focused and efficient for the clients I partner with.

I’ve been in recruitment now for a little over 6 and a half years. Prior to recruitment I studied English literature at Keele University, with grand plans of becoming a journalist for gaming magazines. Once I realised how heavily saturated and competitive the job market was for aspiring journalists (never mind the low renumeration) I quickly looked to change my plans, and here I am. I grew up in relatively poor areas of South Africa and have always been fascinated by people who worked towards some measure of financial freedom. My dad has worked exceptionally hard in his career, through many pitfalls, to become a chartered accountant, and after many years, he’s finally able to say he’s put his family in situation of not having to worry about finances anymore. I want that same feeling for myself and future family, which is ultimately brought me to where I am in recruitment at SoCode."

What did you want to be when you grew up?

"I wanted to be a Simpson's character, the kid me was fairly unrealistic!"

Where would we find you outside of work?

"I'm often found cooking, walking or watching horror films. I've also started to learn the guitar!"

Interesting facts about James:

"I have 3 ear lobes and I was born in Cape Town"
