SoCode is partnering with a global leader in critical telecommunications technology. Their products are essential tools for the UK Security Agencies and, as such, they have had minimal impact form recent events and instead recorded record sales for 2020. Boasting the Metropolitan Police amongst their recent contract wins, the business has never been busier and is investing heavily in NPD. To compliment this growth and support innovative product development into new markets, they now seek to expand their team with an experienced Programme Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in the heart of the business in a team responsible for guiding innovative ideas through complex manufacturing and engineering challenges to make them a reality.

As the Programme Manager you will be supported by your manager and team, as well as collaborating with other departments across the business. Project and Programme management activities that you will be responsible for include:

  • Planning, management and leadership of multiple complex projects
  • Manage regular project meetings and attend SCRUM ceremonies, ensuring accountability of team members and individuals in the wider business
  • Ensure approaches/techniques are used for building high performing teams, maintaining good team morale and a high level of operating efficiency 
  • Ensure personal and team adherence to defined project management processes
  • Capture and manage project risks and opportunities with appropriate planning of mitigations
  • Communicate with stakeholders, ensuring an appropriate escalation of issues
  • Negotiate the availability of project resources with Resource Managers and other Project Managers, ensuring smoothed and optimised resource utilisation 
  • Work in partnership with Senior Technical Leads/Architects and Product Managers to deliver industry leading solutions into volume production 

This job may involve occasional travelling so the successful applicant will have a full, clean driving licence and their own car. Travel expenses will be paid 

What you need to succeed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline
  • Training in Project Management to a Project Manager level, with accredited certification through IPMA, APM, Prince 2, IPM or equivalent 

Experience and skills

  • 5+ years' experience leading complex software development projects and programme teams in a multi-discipline environment on complex product development projects, using Agile and Waterfall methodologies 
  • Knowledge and confidence in understanding the system level constraints and requirements typical of complex telecommunications systems
