Job description

Title: Solution Architect/Senior Consultant
Contract: Permanent
Location: London, Bristol and Manchester
Salary: £58,000 - £75,000 depending on location
Are you passionate about leveraging innovative technology to solve some of the world’s most complex business challenges?
This is your opportunity to work directly with clients, designing and delivering complex business and technical solutions. As a Solution Architect, you'll be involved in every phase of the delivery lifecycle, adopting a hands-on, delivery-focused approach across multiple domains and leading technologies.
As a Solution Architect and technology leader, you will:
  • Collaborate with clients to define tailored technology solutions, often helping them understand their needs as they embark on digital transformation journeys. Many clients are large enterprises, government bodies, or national infrastructure providers, allowing you to make a tangible impact from day one.
  • Own and assure critical architecture deliverables, such as Key Design Decisions, Technical Options Papers, High-Level and Low-Level Designs, Reference Architectures, and Roadmaps. You will use your consulting and stakeholder management skills to engage and influence decision-makers across the client’s organization.
  • Support senior leaders in shaping their case for change, leading cost estimation, detailed planning, and benefits realization for the solutions you design.
  • Work closely with engineering teams, often taking on a lead SME role to define the vision, establish Architectural Guardrails, Architecture Runways, and Detailed Designs, while unblocking challenges that arise. Your hands-on software engineering experience, combined with leadership in engineering teams, will enable you to quickly build credibility.
  • Clearly communicate complex technical concepts to board-level business leaders and their teams, using technical writing and presentation skills alongside tools like PowerPoint, Word, and Visio.
  • Apply your architectural expertise across multiple domains, with a specialization in at least one: Business, Data, Application, Technology, or Security.
  • Demonstrate practical application of architecture and delivery methodologies such as TOGAF, Zachman, MODAF, or SAFe.
  • Utilize architecture modeling tools and frameworks, including UML, ArchiMate, and Ardoq, to clearly communicate your designs.
  • Design and implement solutions within governance frameworks and operating models, using delivery methodologies like Waterfall, SAFe, Scrum, and Kanban.
Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience in roles such as Solution Architect, Software Architect, or similar, emphasizing software design and system integration.
  • Proven ability to architect complex, enterprise-level solutions that span multiple technologies and platforms.
  • Skilled in designing both cloud-based and hybrid systems.
  • Proficient in languages like Java, Python, or C#
  • Strong understanding of platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, as well as cloud-native architectures
  • Experienced with APIs, microservices, containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), and contemporary software development methods
  • Knowledgeable in SQL, NoSQL, and best practices in data management.
  • Familiar with DevOps methodologies, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), and automation tools.
  • Excellent at conveying complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in solution design.
  • Able to handle multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  • Skilled in leading and influencing teams across departments.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Enterprise Architecture: Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications like AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
  • Security Standards: Knowledge of security and compliance frameworks, including ISO and NIST.
  • Agile and DevOps Environments: Experience working within Agile methodologies and DevOps settings.
