SoCode have been retained to search for a Senior Software Engineering Manager for our SAAS client based in Swindon, Wiltshire.

The Software Engineering Manager s an entirely new position, and a fully hands off role for a company in the Digital Publishing space who are very established, successful and growing. We’ll be looking for someone who is close to technology and has been involved in hands-on software development at some point in their career in a technical lead role (ideally recently).  

Reporting to the Group CTO you’ll be responsible for heading up the development of a new and very modern SAAS platform along with maintaining the company’s existing product range.

We’re looking for an energetic and passionate Software Engineering Manager who can join the Company’s SMT.

The Team:

You’ll be managing a team of Developers and QA (10) taking full responsibility for their coaching, mentoring, career development, L&D and day-to-day work.  Motivating, Managing and Appraising them to optimal performance in a very people-centric role.

The team are currently operating remotely however will probably revert back to a 2/3 day office base once the current pandemic is over! Taking the good aspects of remote working and adding a sensible degree of collaboration.

Previous experience of leading teams and managing Software Engineers is Essential.

Technology, Strategy & Environment:

Working closely with the Group CTO and Chief Architect, you’ll be working  with other senior technical stake-holders and act as a key part of the company’s SMT developing a modern platform and making key choices around the technological direction.

The team work to an Agile methodology, the Software Engineering Manager will be responsible for this and as such should have strong previous experience of working in Agile ways.

Current Technology Stack:

The new product range is very modern – as such it would be beneficial (not essential) for applicants to have experience of managing or working with the following technology:

.Net / SAAS/ Microservices / AWS / Kubernetes / Elastic Search

Projects and Delivery:

The Software Engineering Manager will ultimately take responsibility for Project and Delivery – managing delivery to be on time to a high quality level is essential – this will form a key part of the role.

The Rewards:

The successful candidate will be rewarded with a competitive and established benefits package along with a basic salary of £75,000 - £85,000 pa. You’ll also be eligible for the SMT bonus scheme which historically is lucrative.

Please note that it will be required to be on site for a minimum of 3 days per week as this is a very people focussed management position. If you are not able to commit time to working on site with the team – please do not apply.
