Senior Mechanical Design Engineer | Consumer Goods | Cambridge 

The Company

A global brand, with offices across the world, you will be a part of a R&D, hi-tech facility in the south of Cambridge, helping to design and manufacture an ever growing and changing consumer product line. Sales have remained consistent, even in the current climate, which has allowed these guys to reinvest into and diversify their product line and seriously looking into their recruitment requirements. 

The Role

This role as Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for the design and development of leading-edge products, to help mechanical, electrical and project engineers, ensuring the timely development and delivery of the project. As the Senior Engineer you will work alongside the Industrial Design and Product Innovation teams in early creation of ‘concept’ designs for evaluation and testing. Ideally you will have an appreciation of ergonomics and usability of hand held products

Due to a surge in sales in 2020, the business has invested a lot of their profits back into the R&D team, resulting in massive investment into new product development to add to their product portfolio. You will help with the detail design, prototyping, production process identification, component specifications and discuss with component suppliers. You will also manage the design, verification and validation testing of the product to meet the PRS and Quality requirements.

This role will be a full-time permanent position offering £56-61,000 plus great benefits.

Key Skills Needed

  • An understanding of electrical/electronic products
  • Strong skills and experience with mechanical CAD systems
  • Both surfacing and solid modelling techniques, ideally Creo and the Windchill PDM systems
  • Experience of designing components used in high temperature applications would be ideal
