Senior Electronics Engineer

Job description

Senior Electronics Engineer – IoT
Cambridge | On-site 5 days
Up to £60k + benefits

Ready to take full ownership of real-world hardware and see your designs shipped at scale?

This is a hands-on electronics role within a Cambridge-based IoT business developing monitoring hardware used across agriculture and hospitality. The focus is on designing, improving, and supporting electronic products that are already in production and deployed globally.

You’ll be part of a multidisciplinary engineering team working across electronics, firmware, mechanical, software, and manufacturing, however you'll be the primary pair of hands for electronics requirements. This is a full lifecycle role, covering everything from early design and prototyping through to certification and production support.

The work is practical and varied. One day you might be designing and debugging PCBs or building test jigs, the next you’re supporting EMC approvals, production validation, or working directly with manufacturing partners. International travel will also be a factor in this role.

What you’ll be doing
  • Designing and developing PCB-level electronics from schematic through to manufacture
  • Hands-on prototyping, testing, and fault-finding
  • Supporting production PCB manufacture and diagnostics
  • Designing and specifying test jigs
  • Supporting EMC and safety approvals
  • Collaborating closely with firmware, mechanical, software, and manufacturing engineers
  • Working directly with suppliers and manufacturing partners
  • Ensuring designs are robust, manufacturable, and ready for scale

What they’re looking for
  • Strong experience in electronics development, ideally in a product environment
  • Confident debugging hardware using standard lab equipment
  • Experience taking electronics from design into production
  • Clear, practical approach to problem solving

Most importantly, they want someone who is hands-on, self-motivated, and comfortable taking ownership. This is an environment where priorities can shift, problems aren’t neatly packaged, and engineers are expected to get involved beyond their job title.
In return, you’ll get genuine responsibility, exposure to products in the field, and the opportunity to influence how hardware is designed and manufactured.
