Senior Electrical Design Engineer for Cambridge based photonics business

Job description

Having spent the last few months streamlining their business and joining forces with an equally innovative lighting technology company, the team are ready to hire a senior electrical design engineer to focus on industrial systems and their ultraviolet products.

The business work across healthcare, environmental protection and research and this role will see you work with some of the biggest institutions in the world as a senior member of the team. Ultimately they provide efficient and sustainable high performance lighting solutions that are tailored to meet the needs of their clients of numerous industries.

Based from Cambridge itself they are looking for someone to be largely onsite to look after the design but also 1-2 more junior engineers in the team. The primary role will involve leading the electrical designs for new equipment, creating and modifying electrical designs including proof of concept, electronic design support and working with sub-contractors on electrical systems. This will be part of their new innovation group, a close knit group of engineers working on all the businesses new and upcoming products.

Sounds really interesting, what do I need to actually get the job though?

Power electronics design, fault finding of electrical and electronic circuitry and being okay with occasional travel to research centres and clients in the EU and North America (no more than 3-4 days at a time!) and some management/mentorship experience. As simple as that.

It’s worth mentioning that on top of a competitive base salary you would get annual pay reviews and an annual bonus and some other benefits we can discuss when you apply.

Talking of applying, all you need to do is click ‘Apply’ and your CV will come directly to myself. We can discuss the role and the business before sending your CV. You can also find me on LinkedIn ‘Alexander Flory’ and discuss the role there.
