PCB Design Engineer | Digital Communication | Cambridge | £30-40k

The organisation:

A group that work in the design manufacturing and supply of digital communication products for mission critical communication. They’re based a short distance for Cambridge North and are currently looking for multiple engineers due to a recent win on a project. The work they provide is largely within the public services domain, with the tech they work on, being relied on in life or death scenarios. The work environment can be full on, with an expectation of delivery, though the management team do as much to relieve some of that pressure by allowing half days on Friday’s and working in spacious and modern working environments.

The Role

Working within the PCB Design Team and collaborating with other development engineering teams to produce designs for assembled Printed Circuit Boards suitable for production. The role will include self-management and the reporting of progress to project teams and line manager. Their customer base includes many different industries and markets around the world. Their complete TETRA and LTE solutions have been developed specifically for users in multiple sectors to face their critical communications challenges. PCB Design activities will include:

  • PCB and FPC layout (place and route)
  • Schematic Capture
  • ECAD library part creation
  • Post processing for fabrication and assembly

Skills Needed:

  • Siemens EDA library management and Siemens EDA Expedition VX
  • Schematic capture using Siemens EDA DxDesigner
  • Design for HDI, RF and high speed
  • Design of Flexible Printed Circuits
  • Valor DFM checks of ODB++ data
  • Ordering of prototype PCBs and assemblies
  • Works well in a small focused team, sometimes against tight deadlines
