🚨 Manufacturing Officer

I’m hiring a Manufacturing Officer for a fast-growing animal health business that’s scaling quickly and doing genuinely meaningful work to reduce antibiotic use.
This is a hands-on manufacturing and operations role, ideal for someone with a strong chemistry background who enjoys pace, responsibility, and being close to the action.

🛠 The role
You’ll join the Operations team, working closely with the Head of Manufacturing and external manufacturing partners to ensure products are made to specification, on time, and at scale.
 
📦 Key responsibilities
  • Coordinate manufacturing activity with Contract Manufacturing Organisations (CMOs)
  • Book production slots and manage purchase orders
  • Monitor production schedules and finished goods delivery
  • Manage raw material and packaging availability
  • Oversee quality checks and ensure products meet specifications
  • Maintain batch records and manufacturing documentation using ERP systems
  • Act as the day-to-day contact for CMOs, resolving issues quickly
  • Drive continuous improvement across cost, quality, and efficiency
  • Support R&D with new product introductions and technical requirements
  • Work with design and commercial teams on packaging, demand, and forecasting
 
🧠 Skills & experience
Essential
  • Degree in Chemistry or closely related discipline
  • 5–10 years’ experience in manufacturing or operations
  • Background in animal health, FMCG, or CPG
  • Strong understanding of quality systems
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, scaling environment
  • Organised, proactive, and confident managing priorities
Must Have
  • PhD in Chemistry or similar
  • Experience working with CMOs
  • Exposure to GMP or ISO environments
  • ERP system experience
