Manufacturing Engineer/Manager

Job description

Role: Manufacturing Engineer/Manager

Location: Braintree, Essex

Industry: Manufacturing

Start Date: ASAP

The Company & Role

For more than 20 years this Essex based manufacturing business has been focused on innovating and designing gas sensors. After growing success, they are looking to break into new markets including the medical industry, on an international scale. With a large portion of their revenue coming from the UK manufacturing operation, the company is now looking to hire an experienced manufacturing engineer to manage, design and implement new ideas on the production side of the business.

Okay this sounds interesting, what would I be doing day to day?

As you would be leading a handful of engineers and technicians there would be a crossover between management skills as well as hands-on engineering skills. On the one hand you would be managing and driving engineering to ensure the processes are compliant to ISO 9001 standards, and on the other hand you would help to manage the engineers and what projects they should be working on.

The more hands-on engineering will involve Identifying problems and proposing solutions with regards to manufacturing and setting up new production processes (including test rigs).

I’ve done this before but what exactly do I need to get the job?

- A degree in Mechanical Engineering/Design is essential due to the nature of the work.

- Previous experience having managed at least 2 engineers.

- 10 years’ experience in a design role developing for large scale production.

Is there anything else that would give me an advantage?

Yes, if you have experience working with gas sensors in a manufacturing setting this is a huge plus. Also, if you have worked to ISO 13485 manufacturing standards on medical devices this would also be a plus!
