Job Description

SoCode are very happy to be working with one of the worlds leading communications companies in the search for a Graduate Applications Engineer, specialising in RF Engineering and WiFi Engineering.  Applications Engineering is a great way to get out there and meet a variety of both internal and external clients, and in the case of this client, get some of the most modern technology on the markets today ready for implementation in to the final products.

The successful applicant will join one of the best Radio Firmware teams in the business and learn a large variety of skills relating to both engineering and client facing work in the field of Wi-Fi radio, and low level MAC layer.

You will gain an understanding of the architecture of the systems, as well as the design and implementation of features.  You will learn how to analyse sniffer logs and core dumps, as well as using the logging facilities, to interpret the behaviour of radio and the chips.  In addition, you will be given the opportunity to develop your C coding konwledge by modifying the specific radio aspects to ensure that any firmware is production ready.

As with any applications engineering role, not only will you be on site in Cambridge, but you will also spend a significant amount of time flying around the world to various technology hubs and manufacturing sites to work hand in hand with the engineers implementing your chips.  As such, to apply for this role, you need to be the sort of person who will be highly motivated by significant amounts of travel.

Requirements for application:

  • A degree in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Understanding of both C and Python code
  • Knowledge of wireless radio and wireless communication protocols
  • A keen interest in wireless technology and RF Hardware
  • Some experience of applications engineering or similar would be beneficial, but is not necessary
