SoCode Recruitment are delighted to be partnering with an innovative consumer electronics company, based in Cambridge. The company are market leaders in their chosen fields, and their products are sold in shops worldwide. You will be working in a dynamic, fast paced environment, as part of their growing electronic engineering team.

They are seeking an Electronics Engineer to join their highly talented team. This role offers significant opportunity for professional development, as you will be working alongside senior hardware engineers with a wealth of experience and have significant input in design modification and development. This is a hands-on role; you will be working on PCB and test rig development, as well as system testing and firmware integration.

This position can offer a salary of £50,000 - £60,000, plus competitive benefits, at a high facility R+D site within the Cambridge tech cluster.

Some of the things you’ll be involved in (not limited to)…

  • Develop consumer product circuit boards including analogue and digital design, simulation and fault finding
  • Develop test rigs and procedures for lab and manufacturing testing
  • Work with other departments to ensure appliances comply with the specification  
  • Source and validate second source components
  • Work with the quality control team to reduce field failure rates
  • You will also be asked to travel occasionally to China, the US and various European countries

You will have the following skills and experience…

  • You will be a qualified Electronics Engineer with at least 2 years’ experience, ideally in high volume consumer electronics
  • Proven track record of PCB development using Altium or similar applications
  • Commercial awareness of cost, product compliance and manufacturing techniques would be highly beneficial  
  • Understanding with the fundamentals of electronic engineering
  • The ability to communicate effectively, and make decisions under tight deadlines
  • Basic microcontroller skills and understanding of embedded C would be beneficial
