Contract - Automation Engineer

Job description

We’re looking for a Senior Automation Engineer  to design, develop, and deliver automated assembly solutions for complex electro-mechanical systems. You’ll work closely with manufacturing and test teams to improve throughput, yield, and reliability across production lines. This role will require you to travel to Germany for the majority of Q1, and the majority of Q2 and Q3 in Poland. Some occasional trips to Cambridge, UK may be required.

Key responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement automated assembly and test processes
  • Design tooling, fixtures, and control systems to improve quality and efficiency
  • Analyse equipment performance and deliver data-driven process improvements
  • Manage equipment specification, supplier liaison, and system commissioning
  • Support production ramp-up and process transfer to manufacturing sites
Requirements:
  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years’ experience in automation, robotics, or precision assembly environments
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of mechanical and control systems integration
  • Proficient with SolidWorks and automation control software (e.g. LabVIEW, PLCs, or similar)
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex electro-mechanical systems
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing, process validation, and continuous improvement
