We are delighted to be working with a fast-growing Cambridge based technology company who are seeking a Software Developer in Test looking to join their small, but ambitious team of multi-disciplined engineers. This company design and develop complex software and hardware that are used in top end industrial systems.

The SDET will be responsible for…

  • Creating test scripts (Python) on windows desktop UI and server application products under continuous integration
    There is a lot of programming around:
    • Workflow validation and functional verification
    • Image processing, networking and internet protocols (HTTP/ TCP-IP)
    • Object-oriented python test scripts (REST APIs of embedded platform products under continuous integration).

There will be programming around:

  • Functional verification and hardware integration testing
  • Networking and internet protocols (HTTP/ TCP-IP)
  • Following existing tools and design patterns, ensuring stable continuous integration test suites
  • Creating systems for measuring high performance processes and extending tooling, and facilitating product development and functions
  • Using documentation to preserve product information / project progress through the tools (Jira, and Confluence)

The ideal candidate will essentially…

  • Be an ISTQB certified Software Tester (or similar)
  • Have a strong programming background in automated scripted languages. (Python ideally)
  • Be experienced with:
    • Device networking, and automating tests for REST APIs and Python object-oriented scripting for automated testing
    • Configuration control systems (Git, SVN etc.)
    • Handling information and communicating technical information to developers and internal teams.
    • Be comfortable working independently, as well as part of a technical team
    • Be involved in contributing ideas towards continual process improvement
    • Help produce high quality test scripts and product defect report

Advantageous skills:

  • Testing with embedded software / electronics
  • Proof reading and reviewing technical documentation and working in an Agile environment
  • Compliance testing network interfaces
  • Digital printing systems or Linux, Windows and Embedded Linux systems
  • Producing / testing installers
  • .NET user interface testing
  • Integration of software-hardware systems and continuous integration systems
