Senior Mechanical Design Engineer | Chemistry Innovation | South Cambridge | £60,000

SoCode have partnered with a successful, innovative business who provide innovative chemistry equipment for safer, cleaner, greener, and more productive chemical research. Their customers are in the pharmaceutical, contract research, academic, biotech, agrochemical, chemical, and fine chemical markets. Within the next 5 years they want to be the global market leader for chemistry tools and as a Senior Mechanical Engineer you will help develop new markets, strengthen their reputation and grow their current markets.

The role itself will be supporting their continuous improvement of their growing range of innovative chemistry equipment. As a Senior Mechanical Design engineer you will be working closely with the production team to help manage the full design lifecycle of existing products and new products (from cradle to grave). You will work across Mechanical and electromechanical design upgrades at component and system level using SolidWorks. Along with completing risk analysis and mitigation of component and supplier bottlenecks; as well as testing (establishing test protocols, collecting, and analysing results, reporting).

What Experience We Need From You?

  • Experience in an industrial or R&D environment with a track record of delivering projects on time and to budget
  • Continuous Improvement / product lifecycle management in an engineering environment, preferably in the scientific equipment manufacturing sector
  • Design experience including both mechanical and electronic system components
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials
    • Excellent knowledge of 3D SolidWorks

This senior mechanical role is a full-time permanent position offering up to £60,000 (depending on experience). It will be predominately onsite in South Cambridge but they do offer flexible working hours and a strong yearly bonus.
