Senior Firmware Engineer / Electronics Engineer

For more than 20 years this Essex based manufacturing business has been focused on innovating and designing gas sensors. After growing success, they are looking to break into new markets including the medical industry, on an international scale. With a large portion of their revenue coming from the UK manufacturing operation, the company is now looking to hire an experienced Senior Firmware Engineer / Electronics Engineer, to help design and develop and deliver new ideas.

Role:

-          Day to day you will undertake firmware engineering work including the design, development and testing

-          You will have a focus writing bare-metal embedded software using C/C++

-          You will design new products and manage all aspects of the development from concept to rollout.

-          Be involved in the optimization of aspects of products (power management and writing algorithms, etc.)

-          Lead complex projects to develop new sensor products that meet certification requirements

-          Be able to demonstrate working prototypes based on methods adaptable to manufacturing and performance characterisation

-          Undertake R&D activities, conducting experiments as well as analysing results and experimental data

Knowledge and Experience:

-          Preferably higher degree in electronic engineering, software engineering, physics or related field.

-          Good programming skills in C/C++ for firmware development. We mainly develop firmware based on STM32 Cortex-M systems in embedded C.

-          Knowledge of development on bare metal or RTOS embedded microprocessors

-          Experience in electronics hardware testing and design beneficial, including schematic design and PCB Layout using (Altium Designer, Eagle, etc.)

-          Experience leading and delivering complex R&D projects.

-          Experience working in an Agile Environment and are a team player
