Contract | Inside IR35 ONLY | Senior Data Engineer | Semiconductor 

 

We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic contractor working in the role of a Senior Data Engineer to work in our clients' multidisciplinary Data Science team.

Their advanced and energy-efficient technologies are at the heart of a computing and connectivity revolution that is transforming the way people live and businesses operate.

Development of these technologies is based on ever more complex workflows producing vast amounts of data. Using data science / machine learning, our team exploits these data to enable data-driven decisions, reduce product costs / time-to-market and improve the efficiency / effectiveness of workflows and technology quality.

The Productivity Engineering (PE) is a newly formed group, focused on optimizing the engineering flows to accelerate IPG product deliveries. PE achieves this by applying a mixture of data science / machine learning, data engineering and data visualisation disciplines to a variety of complex and mainly engineering problems.

Your primary focus will be in applying data analysis to take on complex, interesting data challenges and extract actionable information from high-dimensional (engineering) data.

Key Responsibilities

• Apply data modelling, data quality control and data validation techniques, etc to solve complex engineering data challenges
• Work with the data science team to provide various views, prototype and deploy solutions
• Process, cleanse, and verify the integrity of different types of data
• Data visualisation
• Generate views for products in development, deploy and maintain views that are already in production.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Experience in ETL and data processing: Extraction, consolidation, and processing data from various data sources to be used for visualization
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases
• Data modelling, data quality control and data validation skills
• Experience in designing interactive data visualizations
• Required technologies: Tableau, Apache Spark, Scala, Databricks, AWS, Jira, Git/Gerrit
• Ability to rapidly prototype and deploy solutions
• Data-oriented personality, attention to detail
• Deep understanding of software development workflow, such as Git usage, CI/CD, etc.
• A good university degree and/or extraordinary talent in data Engineering, mathematics, statistics, or other data engineering related areas

Preferred Skills

• Industry experience, Maters/Engineering equivalent expertise and/or extraordinary talent in Data Engineering
• Ability to use data science tools and languages, including Presto, Python, D3.js etc
• Experience in working with Data Science team.
• Interest and endurance in taking on a complex, challenging data problem
• Proficiency in gathering, cleansing and analysing data
