Role: RF Hardware Developer (Senior)

Location: Cambridge

Work Type: Permanent

Salary: Up to £70K

The Company

Based a short distance for Cambridge North, this mission critical communication business work in the design, manufacturing, and supply of digital communication products. They are looking for an experienced RF Hardware Developer to join their team at an exciting time, as they have recently won some historic new projects. The work they provide is largely within the public services domain, with the tech they develop being relied on in life-or-death scenarios. The work environment can be full on, with an expectation of delivery, though the management team do as much to relieve some of that pressure by allowing half days on Friday’s and working in spacious and modern working environments.

The Role

The company are expanding their RF Engineering team and have a vacancy for a RF Hardware Developer to work on the development of professional mobile radio products.

Based at their Cambridge development centre, the engineer will be reporting to the RF Team Leader and would be involved in the whole lifecycle of product development from concept and prototype stages, through to production and support.

You will be technically responsible for the complete TX subsystem, but will also get involved in other areas of electronics as required.  Although the focus at present will be on TETRA development, as critical communications migrates to other technologies such as LTE so will the development role. The right candidate will have a strong background in the specification, design and test of transmitter subsystems, especially discrete PAs, will enjoy problem solving and be a good communicator.

Scope of work?

  • Technical design and specification of discrete linear RF PA solutions

Skills Needed:

  • Discrete linear PA design experience

Experience Required:

  • Senior minimum 5 years, Principal minimum 8 years RF design experience
  • High volume product development
  • PA development for mobile and/or fixed site communication
