Product Engineer

Job description

Product Engineer
Felixstowe | Hybrid
Up to £60k + benefits

Are you an engineer who cares about how products actually behave in the real world, not just how they look on a schematic?

This is a hands-on product-focused hardware engineering role within an established electronics manufacturing business working across regulated and safety-critical sectors including clean tech, medical, aerospace and defence. The focus is on taking electronic products from defined concepts through validation, certification and into reliable, repeatable production. This is not a research role — it’s about making designs work, scale and ship.

You’ll work closely with manufacturing, quality, suppliers and customers to ensure hardware is robust, compliant and production-ready. One day you may be refining a PCB to improve manufacturability or test coverage, the next you’ll be supporting EMC testing, resolving production issues or validating a product at system level. If you enjoy practical problem-solving, ownership and seeing products succeed beyond the prototype stage, this role will suit you well.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Owning electronic products from design freeze through production and ongoing support
  • Designing and refining PCB-level hardware with a strong focus on DFM, DFT and reliability
  • Hands-on build, test, fault-finding and production validation
  • Supporting EMC, safety and regulatory compliance activities
  • Working directly with manufacturing teams, suppliers and subcontractors
  • Improving test strategies, fixtures and in-house production capability
  • Producing clear technical documentation, build packs and compliance evidence
  • Mentoring and supporting junior engineers as the team grows
What they’re looking for:
  • Degree (or equivalent experience) in Electronic / Hardware Engineering
  • Strong experience supporting products into manufacture, not just early design
  • Solid PCB design skills with an understanding of production constraints
  • Experience working with regulated or safety-critical products (EMC, CE, FCC, medical, etc.)
  • Comfortable troubleshooting issues at board, system and production level
  • Clear communicator who documents decisions and takes ownership
This is a role for someone who thrives in a practical, delivery-driven engineering environment. Priorities can shift, problems are rarely textbook, and engineers are expected to roll up their sleeves and get involved. In return, you’ll have genuine ownership, influence over how products are built, and the satisfaction of seeing your work deployed in real-world applications.
