Principal Software Engineer - C++

Job description

Due to significant investment and continued expansion SoCode are recruiting an experienced Principal Software Engineer for a prestigious electronics client just outside Cambridge.

As Principal Software Engineer, you will both lead an embedded software development team of up to 10 people, as well as tackling the most complex and challenging C++ coding challenges. You will be responsible for a full range of management responsibilities through the full software development lifecycle. Involved in requirements analysis, architecture, re-architecting, identifying functional needs in the software/product and project managing the creation of software modules.

You will have proven experience in driving teams, and getting the most out of your team, as well as the hands on technical capability to both work with engineers, as well as mentor them and help them solve problems.

This is a very strong technical challenge at all levels. Our client face some of the most difficult engineering problems out there, and require the best engineers to solve those problems. The requirements for Team Leaders are just as stringent. As such, you can also be confident that you will be working with some of the best engineers in the business.

This role requires a seasoned Principal Engineer, however we are also recruiting Senior Engineers, so please feel free to be in contact if you aren't sure if you hit the requirements for this role, but would like to find out more.

Requirements for application:

  • Experience as a Team Lead / Principal Engineer or similar
  • Background that includes C++

Beneficial:

  • Experience with STL and Boost

  • Confidence with hands on C++ coding
