PHP Developer - Machine Learninng & AI 

SoCode have partnered with one of the most exciting and interesting start-ups based in Cambridge. As the PHP Developer you will be provided with the opportunity to join an AI and Machine learning focussed organisation who have gone above and beyond to provide an outstanding platform for their clients.

With high level industry experience within the business and some of the brightest AI/Software minds, our client is incredibly well positioned to drive the market and become the best.

You will be responsible for developing our client’s RESTful API and the interchange of data between clients and servers. Your primary focus will be the development of server-side logic, definition and maintenance of the central database, and ensuring high performance and responsiveness to requests from varied front-end applications.

The successful candidate will be working with a team of 2 developers plus the team lead who still provides hands on help as and when required.

Responsibilities include:

• Designing, Developing and Maintaining the PHP RESTful APIs which underpin our product.
• Completing product work against our client’s application stack including new feature development and maintenance changes.
• Assessing new requirements in the form of stories; generating tasks, estimates, impact assessments.
• Ensuring own and team code meets PSR standards; completing unit tests.
• Adhering to technical development standards; working with Software Architect to implement architectural patterns.
• Providing support to operations team in terms of release planning and operational handovers; assessing issues arising in production which cannot be resolved by support teams.
• Ensuring all work is impact assessed and documented.

 
Essential skills and experience required:

 

• A high degree of knowledge and experience with Modern PHP.
• A clear and demonstrable understanding of OOP principles.
• Experience working with frameworks such as Slim, Lumen, Silex etc
• Linux
• REST API development
• MySQL (or similar)
• Test-Driven Development, Domain-Driven Design – highly desirable

 

Other Desirable Skills:

• Python
• Javascript, modern JS libraries such as Angular, React or similar

 

The successful candidate will need to be passionate about strong PHP code. Individuals driven by technology with a software mindset and a strong team playing ability is essential. This is a start-up business with a need for everybody to work together so effective communication skills are essential.

Location: Cambridge
Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 per annum
