Job Title: New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineer

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary: Competitive

Reporting To: NPI Engineering Team Leader

 

 

Job Purpose:

Working collaboratively with the design engineers to successfully transition prototype designs or redesigns into a production released state product.

 

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Coordinate activities for the transfer of new products into production

• Inspection and evaluation of first production batch parts (First Article Inspection) with metrology techniques

• Close liaison with design engineers and R&D purchasing for quality assurance of components

• Building of pre-production batch and notify of issues to design engineers

• Validate BOMs and creation Routes in AX

• Assist conducting test of mechanical system to then collect and analyse the data gathered

• Development of SOP procedures for product manufacturing

• Provide feedback to engineers on improvements to the design based on preproduction assembly and tests

• Training of production personnel according to SOP and build techniques and follow up on potential issues

• Support design and manufacture of jigs to improve consistency of build and assembly time in production

• Supporting engineering with prototype build and first batch characterization using engineering measuring techniques when required

• Support production team when manufacturing issues occur when required

 

Required Knowledge & Skills:

• Extensive knowledge of Mechanical Manufacturing assembly techniques

• Ability to interpret standard operating procedures together with mechanical/engineering and assembly drawings

• Ability to identify and resolve design and assembly problems quickly (good troubleshooting skills)

• Knowledge of testing techniques for mechanical/electronics products

• Strong organisational, analytical and communication skills written and verbal

• Ability to multitask, time manage and work independently

• Familiarity with PC based firmware programming equipment

 

Skills and Capabilities Developed in this Role:

• Ability to design and machine components for jigs or tools to aid production staff

• Knowledge of Mechanical and Electronic Manufacturing assembly techniques

• Development and use of engineering measuring systems, such as metrology techniques, calibration set ups, specs performance tests

• Ability to interpret standard operating procedures together with mechanical/engineering and assembly drawings

• Ability to work in a team environment dealing with people from various disciplines to achieve goals
