Job description
Mechanical Engineer | Cambridge Start-up | £50,000 - £60,000
We are currently working with a Cambridge based start-up who are revolutionising the renewable energy sector with high performance battery technologies. Founded less than 5 years ago, the company’s technology brings end-to-end fast charging solutions to components ranging from power tools to home appliances to electric vehicles to medical robotics.
As a mechanical engineer you will be part of a team that will be doubling in head count over the next 12 months so you will be a part of the foundations built ready for the products to get into manufacturing. To keep up with market demand they plan to have an entire product lifecycle done within a year and have products to market within 18 months so as an engineer you will be able to see your product on the shelves in a very short period of time.
The main responsibilities of the mechanical engineer will be mainly around innovation of the batteries to help achieve record-breaking ultrafast charging and high-power density. You will get the change to enable sustainable electrification strategies with battery powered devices and build applications that require high power, ultrafast charge, a long-lifetime or high cycling.
Experience Needed:
- It would be perfect to have experience of battery technologies or electrification
- Going through the full design lifecycle, using SolidWorks
- Develop battery technologies for multiple applications from concept through to production
- High use of CFD
- Produce design documentation and verification plans.
- Ideally you would have worked in a start-up
These guys are based on the Cambridge Science Park but will offer a hybrid model once you’re settled. They are offering a competitive package with a base of £50,000 - £60,000 plus share options.
