Head of Software - Tech For Good

SoCode have been selected to appoint a new Head of Software Engineering for our client, a well known and establised HealthTech Software Business in Cambridge.

This is a new role which has been created as a result of company growth and  internal promotions - it sits on the Technology Leadership Team in an established and scaled environment.  We're looking for someone who is highly motivated to make a genuine difference to healthcare and society.

You'll be reporting directly to the inspirational CTO and working with some extremely impressive and highly motivated senior stakeholders who are very passionate about the mission and shared values. 

 

Role Description:

 

Team / People

You'll inherit an establised team of 20 permanent Software Engineers who need managing, coaching, improving and inspiring. In addition you'll be responsible for another 10 outsourced engineers along with a team of contractors who are working on special projects. (Total c35) 

As the company is expanding rapidly, recruitment and selection will form also form a key part of your remit.

Previous experience in managing reasonably sized teams having "been there / done it" is a must.

 

Delivery

Working alongside other stakeholders, you'll take a large responsibility in successful delivery. Our client currently works to an Agile Methodology following Lean Principles and are HUGE ambassadors of Continuous Improvement to constantly deliver value. There is a real passion for establishing and following best practice.

Suitable candidates should be able to demonstrate strong previous experience and be philosophically aligned.

 

Technology 

Suitable candidates should have a strong grounding in technology, ideally having come through the ranks as a Software Engineer themselves in a past life. There will be abslutely no coding requirement, but the suitable candidate should have a firm grasp on modern technology and architectural principles and be able to hold their own in such areas. 

 

Rewards/Benefits:

 

We're looking for the right candidate primarily so package is negotiable however we expect correct seniority of this appointment to be in the £120,000 basic salary range. It will include a generous bonus and share option scheme, which should enhance the total compensation to within the £150-£180k range. 

 

Working Arrangement: 

As a leadership appointment we'd expect the successful candidate to spend approx 2/3 days a week from the HQ in Cambridge, UK. 

Suitable candidates should be living within a reasonable commutable distance.
