Hardware Engineer

Job description

Hardware Engineer
Felixstowe | Hybrid
Up to £60k + benefits

Ready to join a business where you’ll take full ownership of real-world hardware and see your designs come to life?

This is a unique, hands-on hardware role working across regulated and safety-critical sectors including clean tech, medical, aerospace, and defence. You’ll be part of a growing engineering team developing electronics from early concept through prototyping, testing, certification, and production. Full-lifecycle experience is essential - you’ll own projects end to end rather than just a piece of the puzzle.

The work is varied and technical. One day you might be designing and debugging PCBs or building test rigs, the next you’re supporting EMC compliance, production validation, or system-level architecture. If you enjoy practical problem solving, collaborating closely with mechanical, software, and systems engineers, and having a genuine influence over products, this role will suit you perfectly.

What you’ll be doing
  • Designing and developing PCB-level electronics, from schematic through to manufacture
  • Hands-on prototyping, testing, and fault-finding
  • Supporting products through EMC testing, certification, and production
  • Collaborating closely with mechanical, software, and systems engineers
  • Working directly with suppliers and manufacturing teams
  • Ensuring designs are robust, compliant, and manufacturable
  • Producing clear technical documentation, requirements, and reports
  • Contributing to the development of in-house test facilities
  • Mentoring junior engineers as the team grows

What they’re looking for

  • Degree (or equivalent experience) in Electronic/Hardware Engineering
  • Strong experience in PCB design, hardware prototyping, and system architecture
  • Confident using design and test tools for electronics and embedded systems
  • Proven track record of taking electronics from concept to production
  • Experience with EMC compliance and working in regulated or safety-critical industries
  • Clear communicator with well-documented work

Most importantly, they want someone who is hands-on, resilient, and thrives in a fast-moving, practical engineering environment. You’ll be joining an established business that’s investing heavily in engineering, so there are huge opportunities to grow your skills and influence how products are designed and manufactured.

This is an environment where priorities shift, problems aren’t neatly boxed, and everyone is expected to get stuck in. In return, you get real technical ownership, exposure to complex products, and the chance to work on designs that truly make an impact.
