The Company & Role

This Cambridge based consultancy have won multiple awards in the medical sector for their novel approach to helping the world solve some of the most complex medical issues, whilst also developing truly life changing medical devices.

The consultancy are looking for an inquisitive individual to join their device testing team in Cambridge, to work on a variety of medical and drug delivery devices. Reporting in to the head of device testing you will work together with project consultants to plan and deliver this test work for clients.

This is a great opportunity to work on projects all the way from first stage development through to formal design verification, making sure that all test work is done to the highest of standards.

Sounds exciting! What will I be doing on a day-to-day basis?

First and foremost, you will plan and deliver test work for clients. Within this you have the chance to review technical documents to ensure these clients see just how meticulously you work as a consultant.

By taking clients test requirements and turning them into test solutions you will play a vital role in helping them deliver on their products ie. Life saving drugs, and in turn will collaborate with internal project teams to work out how to best meet the project needs.

The other side of the role will involve identifying key resources such as people, facilities and equipment needed to make projects and testing a success. Of course, route cause and analysis plays an important role in these projects so experience on that front will be essential.

Great, I’ve done that before, but what are the essentials I need to be successful?

- Experience having planned and delivered a medical testing programme.

- An in-depth knowledge of testing methodologies preferably for drug delivery devices.

- Experience having worked to ISO 13485 standards and working within a quality management system.

- A degree in engineering or science related subject.

Okay so I’m new to being a consultant, what makes a good one?

Great question! This consultancy work on the premise that all of their staff are methodical problem solvers with excellent analytical skills, including gathering of data and analysis. Being able to communicate complex medical scenarios and situations to non-technical clients is a key skill here, as is being able to work across multiple projects at once.

Other than that – great time management, an eagerness to learn and being calm under pressure are key qualities that a successful consultant will be able to always demonstrate.

I’m interested! What now?
