Android App Developer - Greenfield/Platform/App/Android

SoCode are proud to be working with an amazing sector leading product company who are changing the public safety sector. As threats to public safety increase, it is vital that technology used by the emergency services improves at a faster pace. This industry innovator are creating cutting edge technology that will be used by the public services to assist with saving lives on a daily basis.

Due to organic growth and success in their industry, we are now looking for an Android Developer to help build their first Android team within the business as they set their eye to the future and look to make public safety more accessible. 

You will work collaboratively with the Advanced Technology tean to produce designs and functional prototypes of Android applications. You will be expected to then to take the ideas and concepts of the prototype through full Product Development.

The main element of this role will focus on development of Android Apps - including UI and Middleware.

As this is a crucial and new part of the business, the successful candidate will ideally be able to mentor and coach other software engineers on best measures, tools and development environments to use as you oversee the transition from old platforms to new Android platforms. Experience in the development of apps that offer voice/Video/GPS/Data features, and as well as wireless and wired bearers (LTE, WiFi, BT, USB, Ethernet) is essential for this role.

Skill requirement:

  • Undetstanding of Android architecture and ecosystem
  • Android SDK and APIs
  • Android security architecture
  • Android Middleware development
  • Developing mobile platforms
  • Full software development life-cycle experience

Location: Cambridge 
Salary: Circa £70,000 per annum
