Mike Orriss

​I joined the Scientific team here in the Cambridge branch in February of 2024.

Currently I work with Scientific based companies where I support with the hire of Lab based roles ranging from Lab Techs, Lab managers, Lab Directors, and all lab service functions.

What lead you to SoCode?

I have worked within the Technical Recruitment market in the Cambridge area for the last 5 years where I have gained a vast amount of experience and understanding of the local market. Having worked for a couple of different agencies within this time-frame across the Technical space, I have now moving into an exciting new space.

My background has seen me support businesses in multiple ways and led me to love the end-to-end client and candidate process and achieving great results for all parties. Having placed many candidates within the technical space I was looking for a new challenge in a slightly different avenue.

Having an opportunity to venture into a new area offered by SoCode in a market that can take my background into a increasingly niche area.

Where would we find you outside of work?

In my downtime you would commonly find me at the gym as this is a huge interest of mine as I am also a fully qualified Personal Trainer. You will often find me lifting weights and completely neglecting cardio. Other than this I dabble in football on the weekends and love to spend time with my dog.
