Socode are partnering with a growing, high-technology engineering business developing mission-critical communication products used globally. As part of continued investment in new product development, they’re now hiring an NPI Engineer to bridge the gap between R&D and high-volume manufacture. This is a hands-on, delivery-focused NPI role. You’ll be working across engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams daily.

This role sits right at the centre of product realisation. You’ll take designs from concept and prototype through to full production, making sure manufacturing processes, suppliers, and internal teams are properly set up for a smooth ramp.

What will you be doing?

  • Managing the end-to-end NPI process from concept through to production ramp
  • Ensuring contract manufacturers are ready to build at volume, at the right cost and quality level
  • Defining and enforcing Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) rules across PCB and mechanical design
  • Developing and implementing new manufacturing equipment and production processes
  • Supporting SMT, PCBA, electro-mechanical assembly, and final pack-out processes
  • Managing prototype builds, including logistics, build plans, line readiness, and issue tracking
  • Leading root cause analysis of build and yield issues, driving corrective actions into design or process
  • Analysing high-volume assembly and test data to improve yield and capacity
  • Creating and reviewing supplier work instructions to ensure robust assembly and test documentation
  • Supporting production partners post-ramp to resolve design or process-related issues
  • Ensuring internal teams (Service, Repair, Stores, Customisation) are ready for new product introduction
What are they looking for?

  • Strong understanding of end-to-end NPI, including Design for Manufacture and Test
  • Solid knowledge of SMT, PCBA, and electro-mechanical assembly processes
  • Experience analysing yield data in high-volume manufacturing environments
  • Experience planning and coordinating NPI activities in line with wider project schedules
  • Structured, numerically focused approach to problem solving
  • Confident communicator, able to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Commercial awareness and a strong sense of ownership
  • Comfortable working full time on-site, with occasional domestic and international travel
