Job Title: (Senior)/R&D Test Engineer

Location: Ipswich

Reports To: R&D Team Lead

Working Hours: 09.00 – 17.30; Monday – Friday, 1hr lunch break, total 37.5 hours per week

The Company:

My client is a leading global IT infrastructure solutions provider, dedicated to innovation for their customers and creating everlasting partnerships. Their solutions and products are used in over 170 countries, and cater for more than a third of the world’s population.

Their R&D department are developing cutting edge optoelectronic products and are expanding their technical team in Ipswich where they work closely with the other offices in the USA and China.

The role:

R&D Test Engineer experienced in testing optoelectronic devices. As a senior member of the R&D Test Team, you’ll be responsible for developing test rig prototypes (Hardware & Software) as well as the test methodology to help develop devices. The ideal candidate will be working closely with the design team & also supporting the product through to the NPI phase.  

The business is looking for a highly motivated professional with experience in III-V semiconductor physics & an ability to quickly setup rig prototypes to validate new devices and/or test methodologies. They are looking for someone with a solid knowledge of statistic tools & the ability to organise data for reports, to better drive development and collaboration with the other teams.

Main Responsibilities:

• Developing test rig prototypes (both hardware and software) and test methodology

• Planning, developing & executing project-based test strategies

• Test devices & technical reports of finding/proposed improvements

• To communicate with suppliers to make purchases/come up with solutions to ensure project success

• Transfer test methodology to the backend team & support them during the NPI phase

Skills/Qualifications Essential:

• PhD in physics, with a preference for those in optoelectronics

• In-depth/Good knowledge of III-V optoelectronic device physics

• knowledge of optoelectronic device testing from DC to RF

• Solid knowledge of statistics tools (SW like Minitab or similar is a plus)

This position is based in Ipswich, offering £50-80,000 with strong company benefits.
