The Company & Role

This Cambridge based consultancy have won multiple awards in the medical sector for their novel approach to helping the world solve some of the most complex medical issues, whilst also developing truly life changing medical devices.

They are looking for an inquisitive Senior Consultant to join their mechanical engineering team in Cambridge, to work on a variety of medical and drug delivery devices. The role will primarily focus on technical delivery, ensuring that the end-products meet the clients needs in terms of product robustness and process reliability

Sounds exciting! What will I be doing on a day-to-day basis?

First and foremost, you will be part of the technical leadership of device development programmes, ensuring the team deliver against client and company project objectives.

As a senior consultant you will take the lead when interacting with clients while supporting business development opportunities. You will use you experience in systems engineering including design, definition and testing of electromechanical systems and sub systems. This is an excellent opportunity to work with Europe’s largest MedTech consultancy!

Great, I’ve done that before, but what are the essentials I need to be successful?

  • Experience in healthcare, medical products or highly regulated industries
  • Experience in the design and development of medical products and devices from concept through to production.
  • Detailed design and analysis of mechanics and assemblies including for high volume manufacturing
  • Ideally experience within a technical consultancy

Okay so I’m new to being a consultant, what makes a good one?

Great question! This consultancy work on the premise that all of their staff are methodical problem solvers with excellent analytical skills, including gathering of data and analysis. Being able to communicate complex medical scenarios and situations to non-technical clients is a key skill here, as is being able to work across multiple projects at once.

Other than that – great time management, an eagerness to learn and being calm under pressure are key qualities that a successful consultant will be able to always demonstrate.
