This biotech is currently involved in the development of technology which has the potential to transform the way that diseases are diagnosed, and the way that we interact with the biological world. They brand themselves as being ambitious, and in fairness their headcount has doubled each year, for a few years running now, with collaborators around the world. Their team is made up of biochemists, physicists, software developers, project managers, mechanical engineers, and data scientists.

This is an opportunity to join their product design team, taking on a senior level role where you’ll be tasked with the realisation of new products and technologies, leading the design of significant elements of instrument platform architecture. You’ll come into the team with excellent knowledge of full product life cycle, as you design and work on products from early inception, right through to production.

In return, you’ll join a start-up culture, which has turned into a commercial entity, receiving a salary of up to £60,000, 25 days annual leave, flexible working, share options, a generous pension and wellbeing initiatives.

In terms of requirements, you’ll need the following:

10+ years’ experience in developing products or technologies within the life sciences / medical device / scientific instrumentation industry

Degree class 2:1 or above in Mechanical Engineering / or equivalent relevant qualification

Demonstrable experience of developing successful products under time constraints

Exceptional problem-solving skills and RCA techniques

Ability to work effectively with multi-disciplinary teams and interact with customers

Excellent knowledge of mechanics, materials and manufacturing processes

Expert use of 3D CAD for technical drawing and modelling (ideally Solid Works)

Competence, integrity and communication
