SoCode is partnering with a global leader in critical telecommunications technology. Their products are essential tools for the UK Security Agencies and, as such, they have had minimal impact form recent events and instead recorded record sales for 2020. Boasting the Metropolitan Police amongst their recent contract wins, the business has never been busier and is investing heavily in NPD. To compliment this growth and support innovative product development into new markets, they now seek to expand their Product team with an experienced Product Definition Engineer / Product Owner.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in the heart of the business in a product team responsible for guiding innovative ideas through complex manufacturing and engineering challenges to make them a reality.

As the Product Definition Engineer / Product Owner you will be responsible incorporating the two sides of the business to help deliver new products and enhance the existing catalogue.

1. Product Definition Engineer

In this role you will define the detailed functionality of products for a wide variety of commercially important projects. You will work with technical standards, Product Managers, Senior Development Engineers and the wider business to:

• understand feature, product, and system requirements and constraints, and in doing so help clarify product functionality and the scope of projects
• develop requirements and associated use cases to create a definition of product and feature functionality
• document and maintain product and feature specifications

2. Product Owner

• In this role you will be responsible for the backlog of one or more SCRUM teams. You will represent Product Managers in the SCRUM ceremonies, and work alongside Project Managers to aid reporting and help prioritise project issues

Experience required

• Extensive proven experience with requirements elicitation, management, and tracking; ideally in an Agile environment
• Extensive proven experience in ground-up product development in embedded C and/or in Android service layer and/or Android applications
• Proven experience writing functional specifications
• Proven experience writing interface specifications 
• Proven technical experience eliciting requirements from technical standards (e.g. ETSI, 3gpp)
• Proven technical experience with layered wireless communications protocols such as P25, TETRA, GSM, UMTS, LTE
• Proven technical experience with technologies such as USB, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS
• Significant experience working in a flexible Agile project-based environment 
• Significant experience with Agile product ownership using SCRUM
