MECHANICAL TEAM LEAD | CAMBRIDGE BIOTECH | £75,000



The Business

Cell and gene therapy is revolutionising the medical world day by day. Currently chemo and radiotherapy only have a 10% success rate of complete remission, whereas cell therapy increase that to 50%. But it does come at a cost and can cost the NHS up to £2 million per patient. The biggest pressure point comes in the manufacturing process and this biotech firm is hoping to reduce that cost by up to 70%; making cell and gene therapy more accessible to patients in need. There is even scope to cure some cases of blindness.


SoCode is recruiting for one of the fastest growing businesses in Cambridge. With £100 million worth of funding secured earlier this year, this biotech firm are in prime position to get their desktop application to market by 2023 to change the lives of MILLIONS. They want to be a billion-pound business in the next 24 months and after a 90% increase in value in 2021 there are no plans to slow down.

 

The Role

As a lead mechanical engineer, you will inherited a small team of design engineers to be responsible for developing creative engineering solutions to solve complex development challenges to create the business’ next generation manufacturing platform; from defining the problem and initial requirements, all the way through to production release and product launch.

What we need:

  • Proven experience in leading a small mechanical team while remaining hands on in the design of electro-mechanical products.
  • Full design lifecycle, from concept into production
  • Experience working in a highly regulated industry (life science, biotech, medical device)
  • Experience in a fast paced, start-up environment
  • Passionate about wanting to make a difference

 

This role will be a full-time permanent position, with flexible working and a great benefits. The offered salary is between £65,000 - £75,000 (DOE) plus equity.
