SoCode have been appointed to search for a Director of R&D (Engineering) for our client, a well known global player in the Wireless Telecommunications / Consumer Electronics space.
This is an Executive Appointment, reporting directly to the CEO - and will form a key part of the Senior Management Team. We are looking for an individual with a large amount of experience - someone who has "been there and done it" rather than anyone looking to make a step up in to their first executive appointment.
Our client has boomed in recent years and show a very healthy current financial performance and results. To continue this ambitious growth - we are looking for someone with energy, passion and experience. They are entering an exciting period of New Product Development within an established sector, and the Director of R&D will be ciritcal in making the correct product and investment decisions.
Delivery
The Director of R&D will take accountabilty and ownership for high quality and on-time delivery of products (Hardware and Software) ensuring that all projects meet their objectives. You'll be a "continuous improver" of people and processes - bringing in new methodologies, driving innovation and always seeking perfection.
Reporting Business Units will be:
- Programme/Project Management
- Software
- Hardware Design
- Engineering Support Services
- NPI
Management
You'll be responsible for c150 Engineers (50% of the Workforce) mainly based in Cambridge, UK. You'll be used to inspiring people on mass and managing careers and hiring etc. You'll be used to managing through managers and running a sperate Technology SMT
Strategic / Commercial:
The Director of R&D will take accountabilty for the £10-£12M pa R&D Budget and own the Company Technology Roadmap. You'll have a strong commercial sense and be used to P&L accountability. Working alongside the executive team, you will be a central decision maker in the business and product strategy.
