CONTRACT Senior Mechanical Design Engineer | Outside IR35 | Cambridge | £400-500pd

 

We are currently recruiting for a contract Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for a global consumer brand. You will be a part of a R&D, hi-tech facility in the south of Cambridge, helping to design and manufacture an ever growing and changing consumer product line. Sales have remained consistent, even in the current climate, which has allowed these guys to reinvest into and diversify their product line and seriously looking into their recruitment requirements. 

The Role

This role as Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for the design and development of leading-edge products, to help mechanical, electrical and project engineers, ensuring the timely development and delivery of the project.

As the Senior Engineer you will work alongside the Industrial Design and Product Innovation teams in early creation of ‘concept’ designs for evaluation and testing. Ideally you will have an appreciation of ergonomics and usability of hand held products. You will help with the detail design, prototyping, production process identification, component specifications and discuss with component suppliers.

Key Skills Needed

• An understanding of electrical/electronic products
• Strong skills and experience with mechanical CAD systems
• Both surfacing and solid modelling techniques, using Creo and the Windchill PDM systems
• Experience of designing components used in high temperature applications would be ideal

This role will be 6 months, outside IR35 and offering £400-500pd (dependent on experience)
