Job description
Senior Product Safety Engineer (ATEX) – Safety-Critical Electronics
Cambridge area | 5 days On-site
Up to £85k + benefits
This is a senior engineering position within a UK-based company developing electronic products used in hazardous and regulated environments. The role focuses on ensuring products are designed and developed in line with ATEX requirements from the earliest stages of the design process through to certification and release.
You’ll be part of a multidisciplinary engineering team working across hardware, firmware, and verification. The position combines practical electronics engineering with responsibility for guiding products through the ATEX certification process, working closely with internal teams and external test houses.
The work covers the full development lifecycle. You’ll be involved in early-stage design reviews, assessing intrinsic safety considerations, supporting detailed hardware design, and ensuring products meet the necessary compliance standards before release.
This role suits someone comfortable taking technical ownership, interpreting safety standards, and working closely with engineers to ensure designs meet certification requirements.
