We are working with a leading US energy and utilities organisation that is looking to appoint a Data Privacy Manager to join its growing legal, compliance and technology function.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced privacy professional to take ownership of data privacy initiatives within a large, complex organisation and work closely with stakeholders across technology, legal, security and the wider business.
The role is fully remote, although candidates must be based on the East Coast of the United States.
The Role
As Data Privacy Manager, you will play a key role in developing, maintaining and improving the organisation's data privacy framework. You will work across the business to ensure privacy requirements are understood, embedded into processes and aligned with applicable legislation and regulatory expectations.

The Role
As Data Privacy Manager, you will play a key role in developing, maintaining and improving the organisation's data privacy framework. You will work across the business to ensure privacy requirements are understood, embedded into processes and aligned with applicable legislation and regulatory expectations.
You'll be responsible for:
- Managing and supporting the organisation's data privacy programme.
- Advising stakeholders on privacy requirements and best practice.
- Supporting compliance with relevant US data privacy legislation and regulations.
- Conducting and overseeing Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) and data protection assessments.
- Supporting the development and maintenance of privacy policies, standards and procedures.
- Working closely with Legal, Information Security, IT, Compliance and business stakeholders.
- Supporting data mapping, records of processing activities and data inventories.
- Advising on privacy considerations relating to new technologies, systems and business initiatives.
- Supporting the management and assessment of third-party privacy risks.
- Monitoring changes in privacy legislation and assessing their impact on the organisation.
- Helping develop privacy awareness and training across the business.
- Supporting the investigation and management of potential privacy incidents where required.
We're looking for someone who can combine strong privacy knowledge with excellent stakeholder management skills.
You'll ideally have:
- Several years' experience working within Data Privacy, Data Protection or Privacy Compliance.
- Strong understanding of US data privacy legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Experience developing or managing privacy programmes within a large organisation.
- Experience conducting PIAs / DPIAs and data privacy risk assessments.
- Strong understanding of data governance and data lifecycle management.
- Experience working with Legal, Cyber Security, IT and senior business stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills.
- The ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating effectively with wider teams.
